SVR.JS Git server went down for 3 days

Published on: June 7, 2024

SVR.JS Git server and Git statistics server went down for 3 days, possibly due to OOM (out of memory) condition in the VPS, on which Git server resides. The issue is now fixed, and both servers are operational again. The OOM killer in the VPS probably killed SVR.JS main process (Node.JS running SVR.JS script), which caused 3 day downtime, and a "Website unavailable" notice, while trying to access Git server or Git statistics server.

Both server were down from June 4, 2024 to June 7, 2024. The server administrator didn't notice the downtime, until the email notification about uptime monitors for Git server and Git statistics server being paused arrived in web server administrator's mailbox. The issue was fixed by restarting the VPS containing both servers.

The GitHub and repo.or.cz mirrors of SVR.JS Git repositories were not affected by the downtime.
